 Pastor Beaver.

In the wake of what has happened over the past few the Pastor at our church sent us a copy of his sermon.

I was instructed that is was OK to post on my Blog.

Here is an Article that I am writing for Wednesday's and sunday's bulletin, I thought I would share it with my e-mail list first.

My thoughts on the shootings at VA TECH!

Some of you may know this is my home area. My mother worked there for almost 20 years, I grew up walking around the campus much of my unsaved life. The Gateway Baptist Church, where I was saved, and the church where I am ordained out of, is just minutes from campus. One of the first times I went soul winning was in the drill field. My friend, Darrell Ratcliff, (who now is a missionary to Mexico), and I, would go to the drill field and wait for classes to let out. The drill field is the main hub on campus,  We would literally hand out thousands of tracts. Most of my early soul winning converts were Tech students. I remember a fellow by the name of HAL, who I led to the Lord, was wrapped up in a cult, and I was able to see him get saved and discipled. He got into Gateway Baptist Church and worked in the Bus Ministry, as well as looking to take the Gospel back to his people in China one day. He graduated with his Doctorate degree in Science, took a three year job in a lab, and then was going to go back to China. So what is my point?  What if someone would have witnessed to this fellow that did the shootings and had seen his life changed? Everyone wants to criticize the Police, and the Campus. Let me criticize the Born Again Bible Believing Christians. God’s own Children!!  We sit back with our pageants and cantatas, our programs and our procedures, but evangelism, if we are honest, many times takes the back burner. Less than 5% of Christianity shares their faith, while 100% of those who are lost go to hell! WOW!

And you see my point is this, that there are thousands of theses ticking time bomb people in our cities and towns. When the next one happens, (and it will) can we say like Paul said:

Acts 20:26 ” Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.” Have we witnessed to college students in our area? How many gospels tracts have we given out? Are we busy about the Lord’s business? The Lord is the One that can really help these kinds of people. Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”

Maybe God looks at us and says"What was your reponse?"

 Let's Get right

         Get in the Book

         Get busy for the Lord

 Deuce Like to Ride

I have to share something I just learned yesterday about what Deuce did on Easter Sunday.

I let Deuce out to go do his business. I heard a noise and I turned to look in the direction the noise came from and Deuce was not in our yard.

If anyone knows Deuce, an open car door is an invitation to go for a ride. It seems Deuce decided to go to church with our neighbors. They had the side door of their minivan open waiting for their daughter to come out of the house, when Deuce uninvited jumped in the van and sat on the seat.

The neighbor's wife got out of the van and then Deuce got out.

They shared their experience about Deuce wanting to go to church with them, but he came safely back into our house before anyone left the respective houses.

This just proves to me that I must be more vigilant and work with Deuce to only get in our vehicle and no any one else.

Geesh he is just like a child. I will never look toward any noise again.

 Health Insurance

I know it has been a while since I posted anything.

I am going to try and help those that have had places of employment change the medical insurance or added or changed one word to make you pay more in co-pays or worse, drop you from all health insurance plans, life insurance plans and including any type of investment you may have that the company pays part and you pay part of. The employer does not have to inform you of any changes.

I have a case in point, my own.

I was married to a man that co-owned a business with his mother. They had excellent health insurance that is until I found out that when I got hurt and broke my back in three places that the company was not meeting their premium payments. I found this out when I went to order medication.

I called the insurance company and they told me I could not use the insurance until the premiums were paid up. I am not the only one this happened to, but to other of their workers who were talking critical blood pressure meds and one on Chemo for Prostate Cancer.

I filed for disability in August of '01.

I had to have ALJ followed by a second one to win my case. I won my case in Sept.2003.

Then my real nightmare began by this man and my mother-in-law. They dropped me from the health insurance plan they had. The reason I was too costly. I wanted to know about the other people that were on the health plan because they were on blood pressure meds and Chemo Therapy. Since they were employees they got to keep their health benefits with the exception of the one on Chemo. Yes, you read correctly the one on Chemo was dropped.

I lost out on my medicine with a small co-pay all because I was too expensive to carry and I had Medicare Part A and B. Any person can tell you that you do not have a prescription with Medicare, at least not in 2003 until early 2006.

I tried to get prescription but I was told it would be too costly for me and that I should keep the prescription coverage I already had.

I politely told the agent in front of my now ex-husband that I was dropped from prescription coverage and medical coverage since I had Medicare.

The agent asked my ex about me being dropped and my ex told him it was because I had Medicare. I told my ex what did having Medicare have to do with it. I had to have prescription coverage and I need it now.

Needless to say, I had to start going without my much needed medications. I was and still am on serious medications.

I finally had enough of not being taken care of and not having my medications that I started getting them any way and I used our checking account to pay for them.

I also found out he was not paying bills, my phone was turned off for 6 months, our electric was turned off and turned back on when the electric company received a fax from my doctor.

I mean this was stupid, causing me all kinds of heartache, stress and new outbreaks of Sarcoidosis.

I met a wonderful man and we are happily married.

He is a retired Chrysler worker with HUMANA health insurance. Seems Chrysler decided to change medical insurance companies.

I know if it hadn’t been for UAW Local 72 none of the workers would have known about this change.

Humana is notorious for farming out all of its different plans. Humana does not and will never cover doctor co-pays, nor take care of medicines. Medications are handled by Pharmacare and if you have this prescription coverage, your medications are being DICTATED by Pharmacare and not your doctor.

Doctors are the only ones that should be allowed to change meds and not pharmacies. I found out that all pharmacies are now doing this and it all has to do with pharmacies, and doctors being in bed so to speak with the drug companies.

Tom is 100% disabled Vietnam Vet so my medications are covered by CHAMPVA.

I hope and pray that if any of you are married to a Veteran with a disability, and no health insurance to check into CHAMPVA. You are then entitled to all medical care as well as prescription drugs at no charge to you.

The said part they were paid for by a greater price. The sweat and blood of those who survived and died on all of the battlefields, from Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq.

You have to read, research online your insurance policy, call the company you or your spouse works for and then call the insurance company to talk to the person assigned to your state.

I hope this helps all of you so you do not have to go through what I went through until I met my hubby and the light of my world.

 OFFICE DEPOT

I am writing to ask how a big corporation like OFFICE DEPOT dictate to the ADA what is and isn't compliant.

OFFICE DEPOT still has the 4' high 3' cylinders in front of their stores and they still insist they are compliant.

I cannot understand how or why a store like OFFICE DEPOT can be allowed to have such obstacles in the doorway.

I get tired of playing BUMPER CARS when I go shopping.

Those of us in manual wheelchairs and power chairs have enough problems with people not watching where they walk, kids not caring and run into you. Then you get the people grocery shopping stop in front of you, to either get an item from a shelf or to talk to a friend coming up the aisle from the opposite direction.

People do not look or care about those around them.

We try to be aware of our surroundings, but when we are forced to bump into a person walking because they do not care or look down once in a while, what are we to do? Tell the person we are sorry for bumping into them or say watch where you are going, it isn’t my fault you didn’t see me.

I know those of us in wheelchairs get very upset and tired of being treated like forgotten or second class citizens. We are human beings just like you, except are legs do not work like yours.

The next time you see a person in a power chair or manual wheelchair do not look down in disgust, but rather open a non handicap door for us, ask if you can get an item down from a top shelf because we cannot stand.
